Hi everybody. My name is Bonfire. You all probably know me through Anne. We go to a lot of shows together, and have come a long ay since September 2000 when she bought me from my last owner, who I despised. I love Anne dearly, and have since the day I met her.  I was born in Mexico, a long way from where I would eventually end up. Being broke to ride for me meant having my legs tied together and being knocked over why somebody sat on me. Eventually I found my way to a man named Juan in New Jersey, USA. Who sold me to a lady named Lisa. Lisa used to come to the barn bounce around on my back, pull me out of balance, and then just leave. She never gave my the love or affection I desperately wanted. A few weeks after I arrived at the barn a little girl with her brown hair pulled back into a braid, cam out to see me in  my paddock far away from the barn. Her mom, and the owner of the barn were at the fence, already trying to get my attention, however I was doing my best to ignore them. I saw this little girl come over the hill and toward my paddock and I came running over to see her. Little did I know how she would change my life. Lisa continued to get worse, not letting anyone in the barn dote on me, and yelling at the little girl, a 13 year old Anne, after little Anne gave me one of her horse's peppermints and I gave her in return a hand full of water, which Anne found very funny, for some reason. After that Lisa said no one at the barn could give me any treats. I hate to admit it but I was very bad. The only person I let bring me in from the field was Anne, everyone else I stood on my tippy toes so they couldn't put the halter on me. I bit the owner of the barn, I threw Lisa a few times. Eventually the only one who wanted anything to do with me at all was Anne, and Lisa wouldn't let her near me. No one knew it, but in the mornings when Anne's mother would work at the farm, Anne would bring me into the aisle and groom me and hang out with me. She would give me kisses, and tell me how handsome I was, and how much she loved me. Not to long after that I threw Lisa for one of the last times. She hurt her back and was advised not to ride anymore, and although I felt badly about it, I could hear everyone else in the barn talk about how she had gotten in over her head, and was too inexperienced for someone like me. Lisa gave me to the owner of the barn to sell, and immediately Anne had her first opportunity to ride me. I tried hard to impress Anne, she was so light on my back. She jumped me a little bit, which was so much fun, however she said I was very unbalanced and cut the corners badly. Her instructor said it was Lisa's fault. Anne didn't know I was for sale, yet though. She didn't find out until on of the other horse owners had told her someone had come to look at me to buy me. Later in the week Anne had a lesson on me and her instructor asked why she liked me so much. "He's handsome, and sweet, and I don't know, I just love him," Anne said. The following week I remember being in my stall, when Anne came into it sobbing, and telling me goodbye, I was supposed to leave that weekend. The owner of the barn stood outside of the barn and told her how happy I would make this other girl, but Anne didn't care, she loved me and had faith in me. She cried on my neck for a while, and then went and sat in the car, and waited for her mom. I could hear Anne's mom and the barn owner talking. Anne's mom was disappointed that the barn owner would do this to Anne, she had known that Anne and her mom where interested in buying me if I was for sale. The barn owner said she didn't realize how much Anne had wanted me. The next day, Anne came to the barn and told me that that night the barn owner had called her mom, and told her that if they could have a check ready by Saturday, they could have me. And even though the barn owner secretly charge Anne more money for me than she was going to charge the girl's family, Anne's mom had the check Saturday, and I was hers. It was a long rode even from there. A month after Anne bought me I scared her so badly she wouldn't ride me for over a month. I took off galloping and bucking with her in the field, after she had just remounted from picking burrs out from under my saddle pad, and she had only had one foot in the stirrup when I bolted, Then I did the same thing in the ring, and she got into a lot of trouble. Even from there it was a long journey. No one wanted to come near me. Now I am a champion show horse, at a barn where I am known as "the perfect horse". Even the old barn owner who used to hate me loves me now. I couldn't be happier.
